I recently sent out an email about my project on the DonorsChoose website.
Listening to Reading is an important component of our Daily 5 routines. Maybe not the most important, but it does have value in your child's literacy learning. Right now I have about 30 books with cd's that can be used. But no way to play them.
Two years ago, I was able to use my three classroom computers for 3 students to listen to reading. Now that I am at Pine Island - I do not have classroom computers, and sadly it appears that I am unable to get any for our room.
In Kindergarten last year - I purchased a couple portable cd players with my own money. While these were convienent and easy to use, I spent a fortune on batteries and since I could only buy the cheapo ones, they mysteriously stopped working properly by the end of the year.
That is why I am trying to raise funds for mp3 players. I could convert all my cd stories to MP3 format - and students would easily be able to hear the storys. Using the website - www.donorschoose.org - I was able to creat a project for us!
I know times are tight - but even one dollar would be helpful and inspiring to others :) Feel free to share the link with anyone who you think could help us!

Also, please remember that tomorrow, Monday, Nov. 7, is a half day! I'll be seeing or speaking with most of you this week for conferences!
