What we did last week:

Monday:  We were introduced to the letter Ii – Inny Inchworm!  Ask us what sound he makes!

Tuesday:  Today talked more about Penguins, and how they use their body fat to keep them safe from cold weather and water.  We put our hands in a blubber bag and decided if it felt warmer in cold water than our hand without it!

Wednesday:  Today we wrote in our journals about the warm cozy clothes we put on to go outside in the winter.

Thursday: We played an ice melting game in science.

Friday:  Today we had a great time working on the letter I and number 6, and then we had popcorn for a fun Friday snack!

What we will learn next:

v  Letter C – Catina Cat
v  Handwriting Letter – S
v  Science:  Bears

Introducing Ms. Bales:
Hi, my name is Katie Bales and I will be helping out in your child’s classroom this semester. Currently, I am completing my teacher assisting and working towards a degree in Elementary Education at Grand Valley University. In the classroom, I will be helping out with daily activities and gaining hands-on experience that will help mold my teaching career. I look forward to getting to know your children and helping them succeed throughout the next few months!

1/18 – ½ day for students; dismissal at 12:00pm
1/22 – GR Symphony Field Trip
1/30 – Field Trip to Grand Rapids Children’s Museum

This week we will learn about the letter P and the number 6 !  We also are going to be studying Penguins!

It’s WINTER and very very cold outside!  We do go outside a couple times a day, every day!  If your child is too sick to go outside, they are too sick to be at school.  Please send your child with hats and gloves – label them to make it easier for us to find lost pieces.

If you have any extra hats and gloves that you could donate to my “borrow” bucket – that would be so helpful to us!

Happy Monday!

12/9/13

Upcoming Events:
12/19/13 – Holiday Party
12/20/13 – Pajama Day
12/21-1/5/14 – Holiday Vacation, No School

Thursday, December 19th

      9:00-9:15 – Holiday Singing
 9:15 – 9:40 - Special Holiday Breakfast for Students
      9:40 – 10:40 – Holiday Centers and Games

Please send in your food donations by next week if you're able to, so I know what I need to get for our party.

Our Holiday Singing is not a big concert; it's just our class singing a few songs that we've been practicing.  If you'd like to come to the party for just that part, or even have a grandparent that'd like to attend - that's great!  However, depending on how many try to stay for the "party" part - we may have to ask extra guests to leave if we don't have enough room in here!

Pajama Day
On Friday, December 20th – we will be spending the last day before vacation doing some end of 2013 review and fun and games.  To make this day more relaxed and cozy, your child may wear their pajamas to school!! Please make sure your child is wearing warm pajamas since they will still go outside.  Nightgowns need to have pants underneath as well.  They may bring their slippers and one small stuffed animal with them as well!
