Important Notes!

Report Cards
Will come home in next Monday’s Communication Folder.  Please keep an eye out for them!

Parent Teacher Conferences
Will be March 12th  and 13th for our class.  Sign ups coming soon.

Book Orders
Are due Feb. 3rdwww.scholastic.com – our classroom code is J9R4V.

Snow Party
Assuming we will have the snow, our school has earned a celebration due to our excellent behavior this upcoming Friday, Feb. 3rd.  For our snowman city, we will need 5 packages of Oreos and 3 packages of carrots.  If you are interested in donating these items, please email me!

Lansing
We will need 5 chaperones for our Lansing trip.  Due to the popularity of this trip, there will be a lottery to decide who gets to join us.  A paper will be coming home soon for getting your name into the lottery.  Before you fill it out – please keep in mind that chaperoning a group of students in another city is a big deal.  You will be responsible for other people’s children, and need to be prepared to not only keep an eye on these children but help keep them safe and well-behaved.

Multiplication
Please, please, please practice this with your child.  If you have flash cards, they should be part of your daily routine!!

Math
We are revisiting the basics of multiplication.  Some of us have taken this concept and soared – and some are still confused.  At the end of the day, there is a need to memorize these facts.  Ask your kiddo what number quiz they are on, and work with them at home please!

We will have a Chapter Test on Multiplying with 2’s, 3’s and 5’s, along with story problems this week.  This is different from the weekly quizzes, where some kiddos are on their 4’s and some are on their 9’s already!

Writing
We are writing our first nonfiction piece, based on our Animal Report from Science.

Cursive
We are almost done with the uppercase alphabet.  Then we’ll have a week or two of review before your child can apply for their cursive license!

Social Studies
We will have a test on Thursday this week.  Please watch for the study guide to come home in your child’s backpack this week.  Not only will they need to study it, but it needs to come back to school to get points for it.  This is the year to really begin good study habits, there will be more homework and need for studying next year in 4th grade!

Shirts??

Our class is going to Lansing on March 15th.  This is a very big trip for us!

I was browsing the web last night, looking for website where you can order/design your own t-shirts.  I think it'd be pretty cool to get class shirts made, in an obnoxiously bright color, to help me not to lose anyone at the state capitol!

What do you think?  Would you pay $8-12 dollars for a classroom shirt for your child?  Anyone have a connection where we could get them done cheaper??  Leave a comment with your vote please!

Tests

Today your child's Science study guide came home - either well protected in their planner binder, stuck in their planner, or loose in their backpack.

At the top the test date says:  Thursday, Jan. 12th.  This is not correct.  The test is going to be Wednesday, Jan. 13th.

We will be having our Math test on Clocks/Time/Calendar on Thursday, January 12th.  Practice practice!!
